The editing process is a combined effort with the author. The final submission of an accepted title will be better prepared if the following guidelines are followed before submitting a final draft to the editor.
Word 2003 or higher
Margins:
Sample 6 x 9 book—
2” top/bottom margins
2.1” Left/right margins
1.5” header/footer margins
Body text:
Spell checked
Justified aligned (not ragged)
Font & text size consistent throughout
Correct use of ellipsis symbols (…)
Correct use of section symbols (§)
Subchapter headings consistently formatted (bolded/underlined/italics)
Correct use of footnotes
Correct use of emphasis phrasing with emdash (—) instead of hyphens (-)
Correct use of indenting vs space bar to set paragraphs and subsections
Each chapter starts on a right hand page.
Headers/Footers:
Tower willing to do finalizing of headers and pagination for footers. Author is certainly encouraged to submit if possible.
Table of Contents:
Set up with page numbers and in author’s preferred summary or detailed outline
Index:
Correlated to chapters and subchapters (vs page numbers)
Consistent formatting in index outline
Finished product to be submitted in Word format.
Tower will then review; edit as needed; create headers/footers if needed; create final pages with printer’s requirements.
